Signet Federal Credit Union® Employees Rally to Support New Pathways for Children Following Storm Damage
PADUCAH, Ky. — Signet Federal Credit Union® employees are putting the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People” into action by pooling their own money to support New Pathways for Children after severe storms caused significant damage to one of the organization’s group homes. The employee-led contribution will help New Pathways address unexpected needs as the organization works to stabilize its campus and continue caring for children in Western Kentucky.
“Signet was founded by railroad workers who came together because they understood the power of helping one another when it mattered most,” said Katelynn Rowe, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Signet Federal Credit Union®. “More than 87 years later, that same spirit is alive in our employees. This wasn’t a corporate donation or something our team was asked to do. Our employees saw a need in our community and chose to pull together their own money to help. To me, that says everything about who our people are and what ‘People Helping People’ truly means.”
According to New Pathways for Children, winds of up to 100 mph and radar-indicated tornado activity on Aug. 20 caused extensive tree and property damage across its campus. One group home sustained significant damage to a wing, requiring temporary accommodations. Most importantly, the organization reported that all children and staff were safe following the storm.
Signet Federal Credit Union® traces its roots to 1939, when local railroad workers pooled their resources to create a financial cooperative built around coworkers helping coworkers. Today, that same cooperative philosophy continues to guide the credit union and its employees across 11 counties in Western Kentucky.
“No stockholders. No corporate backing. Just Western Kentuckians showing up for one another—and that’s all we’ve ever needed,” Rowe said. “When our neighbors are facing something unexpected, we want them to know they aren’t facing it alone. Together, we are Signet.”
Community members who would also like to support New Pathways for Children’s storm recovery efforts can make a contribution through its online relief fund.
