Job Title: Collection Specialist

General Summary

This position assists in building valued financial relationships with our members by assisting them with their delinquent accounts while providing outstanding professional service. Responsible for the monitoring of late and/or delinquent loan accounts, closed checking accounts, return checks and pending past due payment reminders. Make follow up contact on delinquent loan accounts and maintain accurate records on delinquent loan accounts. Optimize collections on accounts while balancing the goodwill of members with the overall business interests of the credit union.

Essential Functions

    • Monitoring accounts to identify overdue payments or outstanding debts. 
    • Contact delinquent members to arrange debt payoffs.
    • Assist members with a plan to collect overdue accounts. 
    • Process payments and collect negative balances and returned items when resolving delinquent accounts. 
    • Maintain accurate records and reporting on collection activity. 
    • Update files and system accounts via the credit union’s delinquent loan system.
    • Serve as a liaison with attorneys or agencies in handling repossession of collateral.
    • Communicates with the Chief Lending Officer on any legal action that would determine when collateral should be repossessed. 
    • Prepares delinquent loans, Visa Credit Cards, and checking accounts for charge off. 
    • Prepare monthly/quarterly reports for Chief Lending Officer, CEO, or Board of Directors. 
    • Attending meetings, training courses, conferences, and seminars. 
    • Upload daily files to mail company for processing of DQ letters.

Job Title: Loan Officer 

General Summary

This position assists in building valued financial relationships with our members by assisting them with their loans while providing outstanding professional service. Provide information on credit union products and services according to all credit union policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations. Responsible for interviewing and evaluating applicants for routine loans and processing loan applications. Gather background information and analyze loan applicants’ credit history. Approve or deny loan applications based on analysis, operating with moderate credit authority. 

Essential Functions

    • Gather background information on loan applicants by interviewing loan applicants and obtaining credit bureau reports. 
    • Assist members with the loan application process to ensure completeness of information. Requiring the ability to move about inside the office to assist where needed throughout the day.
    • Pull credit reports for all accounts, verify debts, and estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed and add them to debts on application.
    • Calculate debttoincome ratios on loan applicants.
    • Calculate how much of a loan applicant’s debt is secured or unsecured. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment. 
    • Complete loan applications over the phone and/or electronically. 
    • Determine collateral needs and payment plans for members applying for loans. 
    • Determine eligibility of loan comaker from comaker’s statement and credit rating. 
    • When a loan is denied, explain reasons for denial in a professional, courteous manner. Work with members to provide recommendations or alternative options for other possible ways to secure a loan in the future. 
    • Verify the accuracy of loan amounts and repayment terms on approved loan applications.
    • Approve or deny loan applications. 
    • Complete loan documents and disburse loans when approved. 
    • Ensure that all credit union members and employeerelated business are kept in the strictest confidence. 

Additional Functions

    • Attending meetings, training courses, conferences, and seminars.
    • Perform clerical support duties, as necessary.
    • Assist in other departments as necessary such as collections, mortgage lending or branch operations. 

Skills

    • Demonstrated ability to use a calculator and a computer. 
    • Excellent member service and verbal and written communication skills.
    • Intermediate mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals).
    • Basic Computer Knowledge

Job Title: Teller 

General Summary

Assist in building valued financial relationships with our members by assisting them with their accounts while providing outstanding professional service. Perform limited transactional duties to serve members by receiving or paying out funds with a high degree of accuracy. Maintain accurate transactional records, providing basic cash receipt and payment services in accordance with credit union policies and procedures. 

Essential Functions

    • Greet and welcome members to the credit union in a courteous, professional, and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient member transactions.
    • Receive checks and cash for deposit to accounts, verify amounts, examine checks for proper endorsement, and enter deposits into computer records. 
    • Cash checks and process withdrawals; pay out money after verification of signatures and member balances. Place check hold on accounts for uncollected funds.
    • Maintain an up-to-date comprehensive knowledge on all credit union products and services. 
    • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all related products and procedures, rules, and regulations. (Fraud prevention and robbery procedures.) 
    • Receive mortgage, consumer loan, and other payments, and ensure the payments match balances due. Enter payments into the computer and generate member receipts. 
    • Balance cash drawer at the end of the shift and compare totaled amounts to computergenerated proof sheet. Research and resolve discrepancies. 
    • Ensure that all credit union members and employeerelated business are kept in the strictest confidence.
    • Ability to create and maintain a positive and personable environment for member and employee interaction.  

Skills

    • Must be able to count, check, and package coins and currency.
